Bond Procedures
Bonds are not required for construction power. Construction power is defined as temporary power for construction purposes, not utilizing the building wiring for distribution of electricity. A permit for construction power may be obtained with your project permit. Commercial projects will normally be provided with construction power through a "temporary pole".
Bonds may be obtained for temporary power or temporary occupancy for the following reasons:
1. To test equipment,
2. To energize power on residences when the dwelling is safe for occupancy, but not completely finished and temporary occupancy is being granted; or,
3. To energize power on commercial projects through the building service.
1. Temporary occupancy will be considered when an uncompleted project is considered safe for occupancy or stocking purposes.
NOTE: We will not release clearance to the power company until an inspection is made and approved for the temporary power or temporary occupancy request.

Bond Completion

If there is still a need for the power, the person/company responsible for the project may post a bond or individual tenant space bonds may be posted.
Once the project has received and passed final inspections, the bond monies can be returned to the bond poster. Complete a "Request for Refund of Cash Bond" form and submit it to Building Safety and Sustainability, 201 N. Stone Ave.
